Historical novel
Nkuwu: vilua wa ntotila
A king receives visitors who arrive with words of friendship, promises of exchange and claims of mutual benefit. Nzinga a Nkuwu understands hospitality as a serious political obligation: a guest is protected, and in return accepts the responsibilities of trust. Across the court of Kongo, people read the visitors differently. Some see possibilities for knowledge and exchange; others detect intentions that do not fit the language of friendship.
