THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE IDEAS
Runoko Rashidi
Runoko Rashidi (1954–2021) carried his study of the global African presence across continents, museums and communities. His books and public lectures explored Africans in Asia, Europe and the wider diaspora, and he travelled widely to document places, people and material heritage often overlooked in conventional accounts. With Ivan Van Sertima, he co-edited African Presence in Early Asia. His writings include Introduction to the Study of African Classical Civilizations, Black Star and African Star over Asia. This profile brings together the books, journeys and questions that shaped his work.
